伝統芸能の新しい魅力を、初めての方にもわかりやすい解説と楽しいトークを交えてお贈りする大好評の「Traditional+」。vol.5で取り上げるのは、人の「声」です。身体という最もシンプルな楽器が放つ「声」。日本の音楽の歴史は、さまざまな「声」によって彩られてきました。朗々と流れる大河のように、微かに震える絹糸のように、いつの時代にも声の波動は言霊を呼び覚まし、うたに生命を与えてきました。僧侶の唱える仏教音楽『聲明』、あの世からの思いを物語る能の『謡曲』、庶民の生活が生んだ『民謡』、そして同時代を歌う現代のポップスまで。日本には時代時代に生まれた声の伝統が、千年の時を経て今に引き継がれているのです。私たちの声の系譜をたどる旅に出かけてみませんか？

［プロフィール］
室生述成〈天台宗僧侶・聲明家〉 Jussei Muro – Tendai Sect Buddhist monk	1971年千葉県生まれ。宗教法人東榮寺、天台聲明七聲会所属。天台聲明を七聲会主宰・海老原廣伸僧正に師事。日本の聲明の二大潮流を成す真言宗･天台宗の指導者が宗派を越え97年に旗揚げした「声明の会・千年の聲」（旧「聲明四人の会」＋シャブダ）に結成初期より参加。毎年新春にスパイラルで開催される定期公演「千年の聲」を基盤に、古典作品の紹介と優れた作曲家に委嘱する新作聲明の上演の中核メンバーとして活動している。「千年の聲」が委嘱した鳥養潮作曲「阿吽の音」「存亡の秋」のCDリリースに参加（ビクターエンターテイメント）。2014年3月「存亡の秋」アメリカツアーでは、NYのセント・バーツ教会とワシントンDCのケネディ・センターにてソリストとして出演した。

観世喜正〈能楽師・観世流シテ方〉 Yoshimasa Kanze – The Kanze School Shite-kata Noh actor	1970年、三世・観世喜之の長男として東京に生まれる。 2歳半にて初舞台。「のうのう能」「喜正の会」を主宰し、能楽「神遊」同人として多くの公演を手掛ける。本拠地の東京神楽坂の矢来能楽堂を中心に、全国各地での公演に多数出演する他、普及活動や講演も多く行なう。また謡曲のCD化、能公演のDVD作成など能楽教材のソフト化にも積極的に取り組み、全国にまたがる観世九皐会において、能の普及事業・謡曲指導に務める。公益社団法人観世九皐会並びに能楽協会理事。法政大学大学院、皇學館大学非常勤講師。NHK邦楽技能者育成会講師。シンガポールITI講師を勤める。著書「演目別に見る能装束」(淡交社)、DVD「スピカろうそく能『鉄輪』『大般若』『道成寺』（日本伝統文化振興財団）ほかの主演・作成・監修。　 http://yarai-nohgakudo.com/


木津茂理〈民謡歌手・太鼓奏者〉 Shigeri Kitsu – Folksinger/Japanese drummer	民謡尺八奏者・木津竹嶺の長女として生まれる。幼少の頃より民謡番組テレビ、ラジオ、ステージに出演。「太鼓を打ちながら民謡をうたう」という独自のスタイルで、国内外で演奏活動を行う。海外ツアーは数十ヶ国に及ぶ。ジャンルにとらわれることなく、坂田明氏、細野晴臣氏等、ジャズやポップスのミュージシャンとのコラボレーションや、_レコーディングも多く参加している。CM音楽や映画音楽演奏なども手がけ、2004年アテネオリンピック、シンクロナイズドスイミング音楽「阿波おどり」を、津軽三味線澤田勝秋氏とのユニット「つるとかめ」で演奏。民謡を身近に感じてもらうため各地でワークショップを行うなど、民謡普及に力を注いでいる。主なCDリリースに、アルバム「つるとかめ」「あいのかぜ」「しゃっきとせ」、ソロアルバム「JAPANESE VOICE」 http://www.shigeri.jp/

坂本美雨〈歌手〉 Miu Sakamoto – Pop singerr	1980年生まれ。90年に音楽家である両親と共に渡米。ニューヨークで育つ。 97年「Ryuichi Sakamoto feat. Sister M」名義でデビュー。以降、本名で音楽活動を開始。2013年初のベストアルバム『miusic - best of 1997～2012』を発表。音楽活動の傍ら、演劇出演、ナレーション、執筆も行う。東京FM系全国ネット『坂本美雨のディアフレンズ』（月〜木11時）パーソナリティを担当中。ニューアルバム「Waving Flags」発売中。動物愛護活動をライフワークとし、大の愛猫家である。 http://www.miuskmt.com/

伊左治直〈作曲家〉 Sunao Isaji– Composer	1968年生まれ。日本音楽コンクール第1位、日本現代音楽協会作曲新人賞、芥川作曲賞、出光音楽賞を受賞。これまでの主な活動としては、ラジオオペラ「密室音響劇《血の婚礼》」の制作、「南蛮夜会—伊左治直個展」開催、映画祭「ジャック・タチ・フィルム・フェスティバル」オープニングライブ、現代音楽祭「Music from Japan」(New York)にて２度の招待作曲家、Festival Atempo Caracas (Venezuela)招待作品、サントリー芸術財団コンサート「Transmusic」での2度の特集演奏会などがあるほか、伝統楽器への作曲としては《南蛮シングル》（筝＋2人のホーメイetc.）、《舞に酔い、宵に迷い》（篳篥＋バグパイプ＋ハーディガーディetc.）、雅楽作品《紫御殿物語》などがある。日本史、民俗学、時代劇、サッカー、ブラジル音楽、映画などへの興味とその影響から、声、即興、パフォーマンスを取り入れたユニークなスタイルの作品を数多く発表し、しばしば自身も出演する。また、「カデルノジャポニカ」「バンダ・ショーロ・エレトリコ」に参加し、童謡、昭和歌謡、ブラジル音楽に独自のアレンジを施したライブ活動も展開している。

Let's ride on the waves of Japanese vocal music, and travel across the ancient to present voices.

Traditional+ is an introductory series to rediscover the beauty of Japanese traditional performing arts with performance, commentary and artist talk. On the 5th volume, we explore the most primitive musical instrument for human beings – the voice.
In Japan, the music history has evolved with variety of voices. Sometimes it appears like sonorous mighty river, faintly shaking silk threads, and etc. In all ages, fluctuation of voices awakes the power of words and endows songs with life.
Traditional+ leads you to the journey of genealogy of music of voice over a thousand years, starting from the ancient vocal – Buddhist ritual chant "Shomyo", the narrative songs reached out from afterlife for accompanying Noh plays "Yokyoku", folklore songs born out of ordinary life "Minyo", to the most contemporary songs so-called "J-pop".
At the end of program, Traditional+ presents a world premiere commissioned work for those "voices" composed by Sunao Isaji.

Program
Part 1 – Performance & Lecture

●Shomyo – Jussei Muro (Tendai Sect Buddhist monk)
Shomyo is Buddhist chant music that was brought over to Japan through India, China, the Korean Peninsula about 1200 years ago. It is sung based on sutra and mantra with uniquely developed melodies at the ceremonies. It is believed as one of the oldest living forms of vocal and religious music along with Gregorian chant of the West.

●Yokyoku – Yoshimasa Kanze (The Kanze School Shite-kata Noh actor)
Yokyoku can be said "a script of Noh play", as all of the lines are sung in performance. Many of Yokyoku songs have been presented in the Muromachi period by the popular Noh actors – Kan'ami, Zeami and Konparu Zenchiku. It has even become an unprecedented hit among samurai and common people from the Azuchi-Momoyama period to the Edo period.

●Minyo – Shigeri Kitsu (Folksinger/ Japanese drummer)
The folklore song called Minyo occurred among people's everyday life and has been handed down all over Japan. The climate and season of the land have fostered various tones such as "work song" for compensating labor, "festive song" for auspicious event, "dance song" for the Bon festival in which Buddhist honors the spirits of ancestors, "religious song" originated from kagura, the sacred dances and music performed at shrines, "lullaby" for children, etc.

●Pop – Miu Sakamoto (Pop singer), Kazuki Kunihiro (Guitar)
The term Popular Music or Pop Music is hard to define. However, it would emit the singing voice familiar to most of our ears today. One of the features is that it mostly comes out of speakers through microphones. In the 1990s, the term "J-POP" came out as a generic term for Japanese Pop Music, which draws a line from the Showa-period standard pop songs, "Kayo-kyoku".
